Though I don't see why, you drink it inside and the temperature never even changes inside, so it makes no sense. Anyway, the sky was cloudy and dull, so I went to my list of mood-boosters. :D

Yeah, so anyway, I did a ton of those things on the list and fortunately that included miniatures! We miniaturists hunker down with our scissors and materials instead of hot chocolate. So I made a ton of books :D
First get yourself some printables from Google Images, just search "images of miniature books printables" and you'll come up with some stuff, print them and cut them out, bending the paper to make the spine.
Then cut out a piece of either mat board or foam board, depending on the thickness of the spine, to be the pages.
First glue the pages to the spine, if your using hot glue (which is what I used) or you just spread out your glue on the paper and press your board in.
You're done! :D Wasn't that easy??
My house is due in 62 days!! Okay so I've got a bunch more furniture to make, I've got to make a washing machine and dryer, another of those toilets, a bath tub (oooooh that's going to be hard), and a double sink. I might as well start working now with so much time off and so little time left.

Creativeness comes in weird places, huh? In spreading colours across canvases, in piecing different materials to make furniture so small it's called a miniature! Strange, right? And addictive! :)! And that's what I did today. Actually I was up late last night trying to color mat board with pastels, which as you imagine, did not work at all. I eventually gave up and created a couch-y thing that was kind of original.
Eventually I gave up with the pastels and grabbed the paint and retried.
I added legs.
I'm thinking of putting the couch in the office and use my last desk I did. I won't use the table, though, it doesn't go with the couch. The deadline is looming! This, overall, is a really simple house, it doesn't even have a decorated exterior. But I'm cool with that :D It IS a newbie house.
Should I do more tutorials? I could be making a tutorial for every piece of furniture I do, because every piece is handmade. It would get really tedious though. :l

I rolled out of bed this morning thinking dejectedly that I'd not posted in about two years and there's absolutely no time today to miniature in any way either than to doodle out plans for various pieces. Nevertheless, I got home and immediately broke out the hot glue gun. I have a feeling that these shelf-y things are going to be created for a while now that I like making them and find that it's easy. If only I had an etsy shop :(
I begin by making a rectangular box of mat board.
Then I paint and add wood for the cabinets.

I tried using black paint instead of building the box of wood and staining, which is what I did last time.

What I've got left for this house is the office, the master bath, the bedroom flooring, and potentially a laundry room. There's so much to do in so little time *cringe*
Also as an experiment, I made another chair for my growing collection of desks.
This craft foam didn't even dissolve when I spray-painted it. I have no clue what's with that.
It's been quite a while since I last posted! Shame on me for assuming my schedule would quiet down after ball season's over.
I've always wanted to make one of those modern shelf-y things but I didn't have any wood, and besides everyone else laser cuts everything, yet I'm way too young to do any of that, so I've really just ignored the plans for the piece.
I stained the wood in the last desk about three years ago, but I figured the same stain would work again. It's actually dark furniture polish.
It's really messy, but it works and it hasn't got any dangerous fumes or anything.
I let it sit overnight.
I used scissors and a crafting knife to cut the wood. The handles and the legs are toothpicks.
It was not as hard as I thought it would be. :D
I just really like desks. I don't even know why. I like them in not miniature size too, but I really have fun making miniature desks.
I'm using balsa wood, which is very fragile, and I broke a bit off accidentally.
First reaction- Oh no I just ruined my wood! Second thought- This can easily be fixed.
I hot glued the wood back on, then sanded lightly.
Can you even tell that there's a flaw there? I can't.
While I was cutting wire for the support, I wasn't being the most careful with my fingers and snipped through a fair amount of my fingertip. I now have a healthy respect for my scissors, and have learned how to properly hold them. Always a good thing to learn.
I made a scene with the desk.
The lamp is new, too. I made it out of clay, a Q-tip, and metal buttons. I first sculpted the top, pressing the Q-tip into the clay to make a hole for it to fit after baking. While it was baking, I glued the beads together, putting the heaviest on the bottom. I twisted the Q-tip into shape, then glued everything down. Then I spray-painted it.
Experimenting with pillows is actually really fun. I put the first attempt from yesterday in a scene.
I don't mind using and reusing the same furniture over and over again, but the same pieces do get a little old. Traditionally, I make all my furniture in the summer, then do my decorating in the winter, but I think it would be okay if I just paused sometimes and made completely and totally random furniture unrelated to any contests.

Yes, I chose the bedroom. The living room plan however, was good too, so I'll keep the plan for that.
I constructed a bed out of cardboard, and I made tons of pillows in attempt to fit the bed.

The pillow would've been perfect except the rest of the bed is white :( that really ruins it.
The third attempt worked.
It looks exactly like the pillow in the living room except it's larger. The backboard of the bed is spray-painted black.
I think this would be the perfect room to put a rug. But before that I need to add the flooring.
